Feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or stuck in the past? Sometimes, the smallest shifts in mindset can create the biggest changes. Carmen Warrington, author of Today I Will…, shares five affirmations to help you live with more calm, balance, and confidence. Try them with an open mind and open heart — and see what resonates.
1. Claim Your Right to Nurture Yourself
You deserve care and attention — not just duty and responsibility.
Take a moment for yourself: run a bubble bath, enjoy a massage, cook a meal you love, read poetry, meditate, or simply wander around the garden. Whatever fills you up, prioritise it.
Remember: replenishing your energy is just as important as giving it away. Treat yourself kindly, and enjoy life without guilt.
2. Embrace Alternative Perspectives
Your way isn’t the only way — and that’s okay.
Whether it’s how chores are done, driving habits, or how you communicate, try to consider other approaches as valid. Loosen rigid rules and learn to adapt. By respecting different points of view, you create harmony and reduce unnecessary tension — for yourself and those around you.
3. Put a Full Stop on the Past
The past is history — and it has already shaped you.
Stop replaying “what ifs” and “should haves.” Instead, accept the lessons you’ve learned and make peace with your choices. Shake off regret, guilt, and shame. When you free yourself from the weight of yesterday, you open space for growth and clarity today.
4. Release Unfinished Projects
Holding on to incomplete tasks can quietly drain your energy.
Ask yourself: is this project still worth your attention? If not, let it go. If fear or confusion is holding you back, summon the courage, clarity, or creativity you need — and either complete it or put it to rest. Trust yourself: you are capable of managing your energy wisely.
5. Simply Let Go
Control feels good — but letting go is even better.
Release rigid expectations, fixed ideas, and the urge to force outcomes. Do your best, then step back. Let things unfold naturally. If you feel responsible for someone else’s moods or emotions, hand them over. Relax, release, and allow life’s possibilities to emerge.
