Women Love Wellness is part of the Women Love Network.

We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy is available free of charge on our website, and if you would like a copy in another format, please contact us using the details below.

1. The personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • your name and email address when you subscribe to our newsletters or EDMs;
  • your name, contact details and message when you contact us, pitch a story or make an advertising or partnership enquiry;
  • details you provide when entering competitions or promotions (such as your name, email address, phone number and postal address for prize delivery);
  • business and professional details if you are a wellness expert, practitioner, spa or retreat seeking to be listed or featured on our site;
  • comments or other content you choose to submit; and
  • technical information about your visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and how you arrived at our site (see “Cookies and analytics” below).

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities, and we collect it directly from you wherever practical.

2. Sensitive and health information

Women Love Wellness publishes health, wellbeing and lifestyle content, but we do not ask you to provide health information or other sensitive information (such as information about your health, racial or ethnic origin, religion or sexual orientation) to use our site.

If you choose to share sensitive information with us – for example, in a story pitch, comment or competition entry – we will only collect, use or disclose it with your consent and for the purpose for which you provided it, unless otherwise required or permitted by law. Please do not include health details in comments or forms unless you are comfortable with them being used for that purpose.

3. Anonymity and pseudonymity

You can browse our website without telling us who you are. Where practical, you may also deal with us using a pseudonym. However, we will need your name and contact details to send you newsletters, respond to enquiries or award competition prizes.

4. How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to:

  • send you the newsletters and updates you have subscribed to;
  • respond to your enquiries, pitches and feedback;
  • run competitions and promotions and deliver prizes;
  • manage listings and features for wellness experts and venues;
  • understand how our site is used so we can improve our content and services; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

We may send you marketing communications about Women Love Wellness and the wider Women Love Network where you have consented or where permitted by law. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.

5. Who we disclose your information to

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it to:

  • service providers who help us operate our business, such as our website hosting, email newsletter (Flodesk), analytics (Google) and cookie consent providers;
  • competition and promotional partners, where the competition terms explain this and you have entered on that basis;
  • other businesses within the Women Love Network, to provide services you have requested; and
  • government authorities or other parties where required or authorised by law.

We require our service providers to handle personal information securely and only for the purpose for which it was provided.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies – small files stored on your device – to make the site work, remember your preferences and help us understand how visitors use it. We use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) to collect aggregated information about site usage, and we may use cookies from advertising and social media partners.

When you first visit our site you can choose which non-essential cookies to accept through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

8. Embedded content and third-party links

Articles on our site may include embedded content (such as YouTube videos or Instagram posts) and links to other websites. These third parties may collect data about you under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We encourage you to review their policies before sharing information with them.

9. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Our website uses SSL/HTTPS encryption. When we no longer need personal information for any purpose permitted under the APPs, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

If we experience a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

10. Unsolicited information

If we receive personal information we did not ask for, we will decide whether we could have collected it lawfully. If not, we will destroy or de-identify it where it is lawful and reasonable to do so.

11. Accessing and correcting your information

You may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Please contact us at editor@womenlovewellness.com. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. If we refuse your request, we will tell you why in writing.
