Mother’s Day is just around the corner. A day which is dedicated to celebrating mums and grandmothers, surrounding them with their family and loved ones.

For many they are the rock and centre of the universe, Mum keeps our worlds spinning in the most chaotic of times. They often shoulder the burden of stress with ease.

Economically we are struggling, the dark cloud of uncertainty is hanging low so gift giving may be taking a back seat for a while, but now more than ever is a great time to test those creative skills. Sometimes the effort alone is enough for Mum, no matter how the finished product looks she is just grateful you tried.

Gift-giving is one thing, but I think now more than ever it is so important to be telling our loved ones how much they mean to us. A simple expression of the emotion doesn’t cost anything yet delivers so much to the people we love. Mums are often the unsung hero for the most part, but Mother’s Day is when we take the time to acknowledge just how important our mum is and what she does do for us. While they may appear strong on the outside, like all humans – they need to be told how loved they are. So if there’s one thing that I encourage you to do this Mother’s Day, is to take the time to get in touch with your Mum.
