Katherine Sabbath may be the Queen of Cakes. But she’s also pretty crafty when it comes to creating something out of the empty jar of chocolate spread, that you’ll occasionally find in one of her whimsical creations. Just in time for the Easter school holidays (and the chocolate overload that will likely come with them!), she shares her four fave hacks on what you do with an empty Nutella jar. Because, sure, you could recycle it. But reusing can be even more fun!

  1. Spray the jar in the colour of your choice.
  2. To make sure the cord stays firmly in place, wrap some double sided adhesive tape around the threaded neck of the jar.
  3. Now you can wrap your chosen cord or string over the adhesive tape.
  4. Stick the lace tape around the jar. You can vary the position and number of rows of tape as you prefer.
  5. Now, simply fill your jar with pens. All done!

Make it a money box

WHAT IS NEEDED

  • 1 empty Nutella jar with lid
  • Acrylic pen Acrylic paint
  • Self-adhesive film
  • Craft knife
  • Small tweezers

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. From the self-adhesive film, carefully cut out small hearts or motifs that match your savings goal and stick them onto your jar. Make sure you leave a free space to write your goal.
  2. Carefully paint your jar in the colour of your choice and let it dry well. You can give it a second coat if necessary. Now carefully remove the stickers with the tweezers. Note: As every type of paint reacts differently on glass, read the paint instructions carefully. Don’t forget to cover your work surface.
  3. Use the craft knife to carefully cut a slit approx. 3-4 cm long and a few millimetres wide in the lid to make the coin slot. Then screw the lid onto the jar. Note: Be careful not to cut yourself when using the craft knife. Now you can work on the free space. What goal do you want to achieve? Write it down. Happy saving!
